On 8th November 2024, The Khaitan School’s Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) wing organized a mock fire drill aimed at educating the little ones about fire safety and preparing them to respond calmly in the event of a fire emergency. This important exercise helped the young children learn how to act swiftly and safely during a fire calamity, equipping them with essential life skills that can be crucial in any emergency.

The drill began with a brief introduction where the children were made aware of the fire alarm and its significance. They were informed that when they hear the alarm, they must immediately evacuate their classrooms, leaving behind their bags and bottles. The focus was placed on safety, and they were encouraged not to panic, as staying calm is critical during an emergency situation. The children were guided to walk in an orderly line, following their teachers to the open ground where they would gather safely away from the building.
To ensure that the young minds understood the key principles of fire safety, the children were also briefed about the fire safety goals: Stop, Drop, Roll, and Cover your Mouth with a Handkerchief. These simple yet effective steps can be life-saving in the event of a fire. They were taught to stop immediately if their clothes catch fire, drop to the ground, roll to extinguish the flames, and cover their mouth with a handkerchief to protect themselves from smoke inhalation.

The mock fire drill was an engaging and interactive learning experience for the children, designed to help them understand the importance of fire safety in a fun and memorable way. The drill not only prepared the little ones to react promptly but also instilled a sense of confidence, ensuring that they knew how to follow instructions and remain calm in an emergency situation.
The fire drill was an essential exercise that reinforced the school’s commitment to the safety and well-being of its students. It was a reminder of the importance of equipping young children with the knowledge and skills they need to stay safe and respond appropriately in emergencies. The ECCE wing’s proactive approach to fire safety education is a testament to the school’s dedication to nurturing well-rounded and responsible individuals from an early age.
