To commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, The Khaitan School observed National Mathematics Day on 23rd December with great enthusiasm. The celebration was organised by the Mathematics Department and featured a series of engaging and creative activities for middle school students, aimed at highlighting the beauty, relevance, and interdisciplinary nature of mathematics.

The activities were thoughtfully designed to help students experience mathematics beyond numbers and formulas, connecting it meaningfully with art, culture, and nature.
Class VI – Rangoli Art:
Students of Class VI showcased their creativity through Rangoli Art, where they created vibrant designs inspired by traditional rangoli patterns using geometric shapes. The activity helped students understand symmetry, shapes, and spatial concepts while blending mathematics with cultural expression.Class VII – Warli Art (Geometry in Tribal Art):
Class VII students explored Warli Art, a traditional tribal art form, by designing scenes using basic geometric shapes such as circles, triangles, and lines. This activity beautifully demonstrated how geometry is embedded in indigenous art forms and everyday life.Class VIII – Maths in Nature:
Students of Class VIII delved into Mathematics in Nature, observing and presenting mathematical patterns found in the natural world. Concepts such as symmetry, shapes, and repeating patterns were identified in leaves, flowers, shells, and other natural elements, encouraging analytical thinking and observation skills.

The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who expressed excitement and curiosity throughout the activities. By integrating mathematics with creativity and real-world contexts, the event fostered a deeper appreciation for the subject and its applications.
The National Mathematics Day celebration at The Khaitan School successfully honoured the legacy of Srinivasa Ramanujan, inspiring students to view mathematics as a dynamic, creative, and meaningful discipline rather than just an academic subject
