Vidya Daan Initiative: A Parent’s Expertise Enhances Learning

The Khaitan School (TKS) firmly believes in the principle that “Parents are the cornerstone of a child’s education. When schools and families unite in partnership, the journey of learning becomes a joyous adventure for all.” Embracing this philosophy, TKS launched the Vidya Daan Initiative, a unique program where parents are invited to share their expertise and skills as guest speakers, enriching the students’ learning experience with practical knowledge and real-world insights.

As part of this commendable initiative, Dr. Shazia Zaidi, a parent of Zubin from LKG B, recently interacted with the UKG children. Dr. Zaidi, a distinguished dermatologist, shared valuable tips on personal hygiene, emphasizing the importance of maintaining good hygiene practices from an early age. Her session was both interactive and informative, capturing the young students’ attention and encouraging them to adopt healthy habits.

Dr. Zaidi provided five essential tips for the children to follow:

  1. Brush Your Teeth Twice a Day: Maintaining oral hygiene by brushing twice daily helps prevent cavities and keeps the mouth healthy.

  2. Wash Your Hands Before and After Meals: Using soap and water to wash hands before and after meals is crucial for getting rid of germs and preventing illness.

  3. Take a Bath Twice a Day: Regular bathing helps keep the body clean and free from dirt and sweat, promoting overall health.

  4. Wash Your Hair Thrice a Week: Keeping hair clean by washing it regularly prevents dandruff and keeps the scalp healthy.

  5. Wear Clean Clothes and Apply Sunscreen: Wearing clean clothes and applying sunscreen protects the skin from harmful UV rays and reduces the risk of skin infections.

The session was not only educational but also engaging, with Dr. Zaidi encouraging the children to ask questions and share their thoughts on personal hygiene. The young students left the session with a better understanding of how to take care of their bodies, ensuring they stay healthy and happy.

The Vidya Daan Initiative at TKS is a testament to the school’s commitment to creating a collaborative learning environment where parents and educators work together to nurture and educate children. By inviting parents like Dr. Zaidi to share their knowledge, TKS continues to provide its students with a holistic education that extends beyond the classroom.
