The Khaitan School, Noida organised a Cyber Security Awareness Workshop for students of Classes III and V on 31st July and 2nd August, with the objective of creating awareness about safe, responsible and mindful online behaviour. The workshop was conducted by students of Classes IX to XII under the guidance of Ms. Surbhi Nanda, HOD, Computer Science Department, The Khaitan School, Noida.
The initiative adopted a unique peer-learning approach, with senior students taking the lead in educating younger learners about the importance of cyber safety. The sessions for Classes III and IV were conducted by Akshaj Gupta (X-H), Nishank Sagar (X-E), Saumit Ghosh (X-E), Simra Nadeem (XI-D), Akriti Saxena (XI-F), Aadya Singh (XII-C), Anika Tyagi (XII-C), Pranay Gupta (XII-D), Kashvi Kar (XII-F), Aadhya Singh (XII-F), and Anahita Dutta (XII-F). The workshop for Class V was conducted in the AV Room by Rijul Kumar (XII-F), Rachit Verma (XII-F), and Tanmay Dutt (XII-G).
During the interactive sessions, the senior students introduced the young learners to essential aspects of cyber safety in an age-appropriate and engaging manner. They explained how students can identify safe and trustworthy websites before browsing and encouraged them to remain cautious while accessing information online.
A key focus of the workshop was the concept of digital footprints. Students were made aware that their online activities can leave a lasting record and were guided on the kinds of personal information that should and should not be shared on the internet. The discussions emphasised the importance of protecting personal details and thinking carefully before posting, clicking or sharing anything online.
The sessions also provided an opportunity for students to connect cyber safety concepts with real-life experiences. Young learners actively participated by sharing instances of phishing attempts they had encountered and explaining how they had wisely recognised and avoided potential online scams. This exchange encouraged students to remain alert and make informed decisions while navigating the digital world.
The workshop was highly interactive, informative and engaging, enabling students to learn important cyber safety practices through meaningful peer interaction. The initiative not only strengthened awareness among younger students but also provided senior students with an opportunity to take responsibility, communicate effectively and contribute towards building a safer digital environment within the school community.
