“SAY NO TO TOBACCO”

In continuation to the Tobacco Control Meeting held on 17^th July 2019 by the Senior Coordinator ‘Say No To Tobacco’ week was earmarked from Aug.19 to Aug.23, 2019 to spread awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco. It also aimed at the immediate and effective execution of the programme.

Commencing the week, a special assembly was held in the Senior Wing of the school wherein a talk to sensitize the students about the harmful and lethal effects caused due to the consumption of tobacco and its related forms were explained and students were urged to become brand ambassadors and spread the message amongst their friends, family and neighborhood.

Awareness and informative boards were placed all around the school premises to leave an indelible stamp on the young minds about the seriousness and ill effects of tobacco consumption.

A poster making competition was held in the senior wing for classes VI-X.  Best entries from VI-VIII and IX-X ,respectively, were adjudged for 1^st ,2^nd and 3^rd position by Mrs.Vandana Datta,HOD Art Department.

A workshop for class XI students was conducted on substance abuse and its dependency by the Senior Counsellor, Mr. Amit Mendiratta. It focused on how a simple coaxing, luring or experience for fun could get one addicted to this life threatening habit. The grievous consequences were supported by statistical figures to draw the attention of the audience. Candid and forthright queries by the students were a clear reflection about the success of the workshop.

The week culminated with a peaceful march taken out by 75 senior students accompanied by the teachers and security personnel around sec-40, Noida. Catchy banners and sloganeering ‘Say No To Tobacco, Yes to Life’ were very well received by the on lookers.
